An dog who lived in Brazil adopted Opossums as a family after the mother of them was murdered by an animal dog. Stephanie Maldonado, fortunately, discovered the pups in time and cared for them with her dog Petrinha.
Stephanie initially approached a wildlife rescue group to accommodate the babies. Who had not seen their first eyes However. The rescue center was unable to accommodate them therefore the woman was able to take care of them.
The infants needed food every two hours because they were very small and hadn’t yet opened their eyes yet.
Stephanie was concerned about their capacity to flourish without a mother who looked after them 24 hours a day. Petrinha came in to help at the exact moment.
Pretinha is taking care of and cuddling the possum pups
The dog had custody of the possum’s offspring as like her own from that point forward.
Stephanie posted the following message on the page of her on Facebook:
“Pretinha My four-legged animal, is taking care of and cuddling the possum pups. It’s wonderful to watch how gentle she is towards them, licking and hugging them all the time!”
Petrinha did her hardest to help the pups live. Despite having been spayed and in a position of being unable to produce milk that could feed them. The young possums considered Petrinha as their mommy and wanted to see her throughout the day.
The tiny dog was so tolerant of the dogs that she let them sit on her backs for walks. Similar to how mother possums would do be in wild.
The tiny Opossums increased in weight and grew regularly after Petrinha was able to take over their care. And the surrogate mother was pleased of her children.
